Dear class,
1. Several of your summaries are too simplified, to the extent that key points are missing.
2. Also, don't forget to add in-text citations. Since two different pages are cited, you should give each paragraph an in-text citation.
3. Remember to explain the main ideas in your own words. A lot of you are commiting "plagiarism."
4. Read the article more carefully. Don't misunderstand the original meanings, especially the following sentences:
1) "... in worse shape, both mentally and physically" 2) "That is hardly a prescription for a healthy society." 3) The last long sentence of the second paragraph.
See good models from Yvonne (AA), Peggy (AC), and Kenny (AC).

With the advance in technology and society, more and more people have got a kind of nameless epidemic, and those who have such epidemic are shy. That the number of shy people have risen constantly indicates Americans are more solitary in psychic and physical condition. This social problem mentioned above is difficult to be solved (Epstein A1). A professor, Philip G. Zimbardo, concludes three causes to explain why the number of shy people is increasing continuously. The first one is automation like using ATMs or self-service gas pump. The next one is addicting or getting used to using PC and home electronic entertainment. The last one is that the patterns of family life are changing and the crime rate is going up. In addition, because of divorce and both parents working, many kids can¡¦t have a healthy environment to development communication with their families. The above reasons make people have few chances to contact with the crowd as well as society and become more isolated from other people (qtd. in Epstein A10).
